OUR PROJECTS

Built for the Marine Environment

Bewl Water Reservoir

June 2025 – Present

Bewl Water is a Category A reservoir under the Reservoirs Act 1975. An emergency drawdown facility is to be constructed at Bewl Reservoir that can drawdown the upper 5 m of the reservoir within 5 days. The chosen solution is three siphons over the dam, discharging downstream, in conjunction with the uprating of the existing washout facility.

GPS MACS have been appointed as the marine contractor for installation of all underwater and above water infrastructure.

DP World London Gateway

July 2024 – February 2025

GPS MACS Ltd were contracted by McLaughlin and Harvey to install the scour protection system in front of the newly constructed Berth 4 at DP World London Gateway Port.  The development of Berth 4 is a westward expansion of the container terminal to accommodate future demand for container handling at the Port.

A complex and challenging project in both scope and environmental conditions. In addition to the inherent install challenges, we are operating within a live port, a section of river with fast current speeds limiting installation to slack water only, and black water working with no visibility.

The key to our success was the in-house innovation built into the methodology:

  • Designed and fabricated temporary works system welded to the stern of the barge, guiding the lifting frame into final position using hydraulic rams, guide piles and gates.

  • 4 mattresses per lift with a bespoke lifting frame designed specifically for this project.

  • Dive teams equipped with our Aris 3000 Sonar System, providing visual confirmation of installation tolerance

  • Worked 24/7 rotating shifts tidally throughout the project.
